Colombia

Colombia is one of our favourite destinations. Some of our longest-serving actors have been to its cities more often than to cities of the same size at home. It is a beautiful feeling to come back to familiar places – the same churches, museums, squares, cafés, restaurants – and to meet friends we had lost.

There is something strange in this. The smaller the town, and the less it means to tourists, the better the return.

Fernando Botero’s curvy sculptures – as curvy as the mountain roads between the cities. “Caldo de pescado” at 1 a.m., when the drivers take a break. Vegetation that tries to eat everything man-made. Tropical rainstorms like something out of Gabriel García Márquez and “Cien años de soledad”. We have seen all of that, and it is unforgettable.
